The Missouri Compromise The Missouri Compromise, written as a response to Missouri?s request to join the Union in 1819, divided the nation for the first time into groups based solely on the issue of slavery and began a long era of arguing between the North and the South. While it did little to heal the long term disagreements between the North and the South, the Missouri Compromise of 1820 temporarily relaxed tensions between the North and South by balancing the number of slave and free states and subsiding Northerner?s fears of slavery spreading throughout the Louisiana Territory.

Political Cartoon In this cartoon the historical event being represented is the Cuban Missile Crisis. The message that is being conveyed in this cartoon is that if Russia were to attack the U.S. from Cuba, the U.S. is armed with their own missiles to strike back with. The cartoonist supports the United States side of the controversy. The result of this issue was that the United States and Russia negotiated an agreement saying that the United States will remove their missiles from Turkey if Russia removes theirs from Cuba. The effect this cartoon had on American History was that it showed the United States was prepared if they were to be attacked as well showing that Russia was not as strong as they appeared.

The Second Industrial Revolution By: Gary Collins, Michael Karas, and Drew Martin ?If a Western Rip Van Winkle had fallen asleep in 1869 and awakened in 1896, he would not have recognized the lands that the railroads had touched. Bison had yielded to cattle; mountains had been blasted and bored. Great swaths of land that had once whispered grass now screamed corn and wheat. Nation-states had conquered Indian peoples, slaughtering some of them and confining and controlling most of them. Population had increased across much of this vast region, and there were growing cities along its edges. A land that had once run largely north-south now ran east-west. Each change could have been traced back to the railroads.? ??Richard White,?Railroaded
