She has a very unclear past, the narrator can?t remember anything about her. He constantly describes her as beautiful and intelligent; she has raven black hair and dark unreadable eyes. They are very much in love when she falls ill mysteriously and eventually dies. What is Ligeia about? After the death of his beloved Ligeia the narrator moves into an abbey in the English countryside. After a short while living at the abbey he meets the lovely, fair haired and blued eyed, Rowena; they too get married.
