Theodor Geisel was born on March 2 in a roomy middle-class home in the energetic and optimistic city of Springfield, Massachusetts to Henrietta Seuss and Theodor Robert Geisel. Based on my personal visits to Springfield, it is a city where the overall atmosphere is optimistic, and everywhere people feel like they can overcome adversity through hard work and perseverance. Dr. Seuss adapted this dedication being surrounded by a community of hard workers.
