(Right to own property, slaves considered property) Martin Van Buren: Accepted name for a group of Democratic party politicians. Their activities centered in Albany. Leader of so-called Albany Regency. Helped create one of the modern party organizations in the United States. Osceola: When the Seminoles agreed to a settlement by which they ceded their land to the United States.
