Persian War Eyewitness Essay The Persians and King Xerxes are planning a revolt against all of Greece. Athens has asked Sparta to join them in this fight. King Leonidas agreed to help a fellow city-state for the good of ancient Greece. After discovering our alliance with Athens, King Xerxes sent a messenger to convince us to surrender.
