The Chicago Fire
Although signs of the great and terrible fire have been, for lack of a better word, extinguished, the city of Chicago has been forever changed, even for the better. In a city growing and thriving exponentially, a fire would seem impractical, or even out of place. But sure enough, the metropolis of northeastern Illinois was struck by a blaze and caught off guard. On October 8th of the year 1871, Chicago would be changed forever. The Chicago Fire of 1871 proved itself to have a huge impact on the entire country, let alone Chicago, in 1871 and the effects of the fire still carry on to this day.
