The writing of the declaration was an inevitable event because the taxes were too high, there was no representation for colonists in parliament, and there were too many new rules. England was a tyrant and the colonist would eventually reach their breaking point. The colonists couldn?t take much more harassment. Taxes for the colonists skyrocketed because of the Seven Years War. There were taxes on everything from paper to tea. Nearly every product had towering taxes on it. The colonist hated these taxes and did many things to try and get them disposed of or at least lowered. The English did not believe these taxes were extraordinarily high because they were still paying more than colonists. Although this was true the colonists still thought it was unnecessary.
