Sultan- The ruler of a Muslim country. They were loyal to the Sunnis sect. They ruled in the name of the Abbasid caliphs from the mid-11th century. Crusades- A series of military adventures initially launched by western Christians to free Holy Land from Muslims. They temporarily succeed in capturing Jerusalem and establishing Christian kingdoms. Later, this term was used for other purposes such as commercial wars and extermination of heresy.
