Sam Houston was the commander of the army that won the battle of San Jacinto and help gain Texas independence. Houston was elected president of the Republic of Texas twice. He also served Tennessee as United States congress man and governor. When Texas join the U.S., he served has U.S. senator and governor of Texas. Houston is the only person in U.S. history to have been the govenor of two different states. Houston was born in Rockbridge County, Va., on March 2,1793. His father served in the revolution but died after in 1807. His widow moved the family into the Tennesse wilderness. Houston read a lot and at the age of 16 he got his frist job has a store keeper.

Jamestown and Plymouth One in the Same Jamestown and Plymouth are two of the first successful colonies to settle in the new world. They are very different but very similar colonies. I have compared and contrasted their location, structure, setbacks, and relationships both inside and outside the colony. These four topics all played a role in the start and success of the two colonies.
