Objectives =) 1. Relate the major characteristics of insects’ biological success. Insects have succeeded, because they have adapted to the various changes in their environments. 2. List both harmful and beneficial effects of insects on human society. • Harmful- they eat crops and transmit diseases • Beneficial- they serve as food for numerous species of fish, birds, and other animals. Many kinds of insects are essential for pollination of plants. Also they provide commercially valuable products and recycle nutrients needed to maintain a healthy forest. 3. Describe the external structure and organ systems of a grasshopper.
