Contemporary American Lit. 11 May 2010 American Author Dean Koontz has risen far above the expectations of others; living a childhood of abuse and poverty, no one could have predicted his thriving success as a writer. Koontz has succeeded in a difficult task; he is one of few authors to write cross-genre novels. Life Expectancy by Dean Koontz is an example of this style of writing because of its combination of the three conflicting genres; thriller, romance, and comedy. His unique writing style provides intense dialogue spoken by lovable characters with admirable strength. Koontz?s various styles of narrative are portrayed in his three novels Life Expectancy, Watchers, and Intensity.
