WELLNESS MIDTERM REVIEW: CHAPTERS 1-8 Leading cause of death due to chronic diseases (which are mostly lifestyle related): -heart disease -cancer -stroke -chronic respiratory disease Although we spend more than twice as much on health care, the U.S.?s life expectancy ranks twenty-ninth in the world (191 countries) and an average of 69.3 years of healthy life expectancy. We are not as healthy as we should be because (1) some groups have extremely poor health, (2) the HIV epidemic, (3) one of the leading countries for cancers, (4) high incident of coronary heart disease, and (5) a fairly high level of violence.
