1. All of the teachings show you a way to connect with something outside of this daily world. For all of these major religions, something must be given up or followed in order to reach something greater. They also are all a way to improving who you are whether you do it in a community or you seek God all on your own. Jews see improvement through the Old Testament laws of the community. Christians find it in a pure heart. Islam sees it in obeying practices and Buddhists find it in nirvana.

Patrick Sayers Chapter 8 Assessment Period 8 3/1/14 God only spoke to the universe into being-a universe that astronomers estimate contains more than 100 billion galaxies with is quite amazing. All the power contained in this entire universe is a small representation of the unlimited power of God. The combined energy of all earth's storms, winds, ocean waves, and other forces of nature do not equal even a fraction of God's almighty power. God?s power is inherent in his nature. All power has always been his and will continue to be his for all eternity. Any power that we have is given to us by God.

Simran Ghooi Within acclaimed writers and speakers such as Jesus, Martin Luther King Jr, Malcolm X and John Edwards we see a major use of the appeals, logos ethos and pathos, present throughout their most popular pieces. Any good speaker would appeal to all three of these things and the four authors do exactly that. They all predominantly capture an essence of both and pathos and logos, and lack a bit in ethos.
