KBAT 20/21 Fort Sumter-Union fort, was attacked by Southern forces after an attempted resupply. Border States-States on the North and South border. Trent Affairs-A Union warship stopped a British mail steamer, The Trent, and removed 2 Confederate diplomats. Britain was infuriated, so Lincoln released them later. Laird Rams-Ships built in Britain, had iron rams and large caliber guns designed to destroy wooden ships. writ of habeas corpus-The right to know the reason for imprisonment, suspended by Lincoln during the Civil War NY Draft Riots-Riots in New York, 1863, protesting the military draft Jefferson Davis-President of the Confederate States of America, was disliked by many.
