piano is right..
if you don't want peopel to lie to you but you lie (even rarely) you are a hypo.
ok first off most of the bible is off because of the constant translations. A prime example resides in the story of Moses in the Old Testament(all this comes from a world history college professor with a master's in theology) The Old Testament states that Moses split the waters of the Red Sea and led the Jews across. Now take into account the width of the Red Sea. There still exists today a lesser known sea close to the Red Sea bordering Egypt known as the Reed Sea. The tidal patterns of this sea are so extreme that even today it is possible to walk across the bottom at certain places during low tide. Coincidence?
My own set of beliefs is fairly difficult to explain. It is known by scientists that we use only ten percent of our brain. There have also been recorded instances of telepathy, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, and other brain influenced events. I think that through belief we can harness some of the energy our brain stores and transmit it to others. In the words of the Buddha, "With our thoughts we make the world." I believe that when we believe in a supreme deity or messiah we give them power and make them that supreme deity. I believe that because people believed Jesus could do miracles, he was actually able to do them, I believe that because people believed Muhammad was the prophet, he was one, I believe that because people thought Achilles was invincible in battle, he was for a time, etc. Every major religious leader has had a large number of worshippers beside him. However, I also believe that not believing is a belief, and you are using your energy to cancel out that of another persons. The reason the world is losing God is because they constantly disagree and believe that the other religion's God is fake, cancelling out each other's beliefs. A good example is the African witch doctors. While a person is using all their energy in believing that the larger religions are false, they show no particular affinity toward these groups. Because they have no negative energy to destroy their belief, these people can perform miracles. So, in a way, I think the only way to make God real is to make the world stop arguing.
I hear you. People of many religions keep fogetting that god is one. Everybody prays to the same god, they just call him different things and have thier own way of praying to him which is shown in the diversity of religions. One reason people argue about god is not about him but in what they percieve to be the right way to pray to him. For example Hindu's dont believe in Hell and that man is born a sinner. Hindu's believe in Karma and Dharma which basically decides the fate of their reincarnation. They also believe that prayer is a form of communication between god and yourself and god is all merciful. Christians believe that since man is born a sinner that he will go to hell if he does not pray to god and if he does pray wholeheartedly he will go to heaven. This is an example of differences which might start arguements about god.

While I agree with almost everything you say, I'm pretty sure my God is different from yours. Like I said, it's complicated.

What is your view on the subject?
yes i do think god exist.
I do believe God exists. I haven't been here in a while but I read a lot of what you all wrote. God doesn't force anyone to believe in him it's a matter of choice. Christians who preach Christ to the unbelievers are not trying to be judgemental, they are just trying to bring them to the knowledge of Christ. I know this cos i'm a true christian and I do preach to others and when I do, I don't judge them. I can't judge anyone cos I myself I'm just like them the only difference is that I belive in God. If you would read the Bible you would understand what I mean. The Bible has been translated in several languages but it still says the same thing. All those who choose not to believe in Christ and live for him are going to hell by saying this i'm not being judgemental, I'm just saying what the Bible says. God want everyone to come to him. He loves us, He created us cos he wants to be with us yet due to human pride, a lot of people do not want to believe this. God does not cos the problems in around us, we do. He tries to help us in many ways but we continously drive him away because of pride. No one want to agree that they are sinners but the truth of the natter is that we were all born sinners all we have to do to change this is to go to God in prayers and ask for forgiveness. There's only one true God that is the almighty God, the creator of heaven and earth. I have a lot to say on this topic but not enough time.

The "knowledge" of Christ? Do you know why why believing in religion is called "faith"? There is no factual evidence, it is just an idea of what might be true. So preaching Christ is just trying to get people to believe what you believe, even though it may not be true.

The Bible was written by men, therefore fallible. The Bible is not evidence of anything.

All of this is assuming God exists. I can't imagine a God that turns good, honest people away from heaven because they had the logical reason not to believe a book written by men was infallible.
I have no problem with Christianity, don't get me wrong. People can believe whatever they want to believe. But please don't try to make others agree with unfounded ideas that you have no proof are true.
And no offense, but I have a question for you.. if Christianity didn't teach there would be eternal punishment for not believing, would you still believe?
Yes I would still believe whether or not christianity teaches eternal punishment. I would believe because I don't believe in God cos i'm scared that I would go to hell yes that is one the reasons but my main reason is that, the work of God is evidence in my life. I know that Bible was written by men but they wrote it by the leading of God. I'm not assuming God exists, I know God exists. As I said before, it's all a matter of choice, you can either choose to believe or not to believe. God doesn't turn anyone away from heaven, he wants us with him in heaven.
