`Ian Homan ? English 9th grade Personal Odyssey Research Project This year for my vacation I decided to take a trip Latin America and visit three countries in North and Central America. I chose to visit Mexico City, Guatemala City, and Panama City. I I chose these places because of my strong Latino heritage plus my grandmother and other relatives also live in Guatemala City. SAR Questions 1. One of Hemingway's original titles for the book was the Lost Generation. In what way are the characters in the novel lost? In what ways has expatriate life corrupted the characters in Paris? Many who lived post WW1 were deemed as the Lost Generation through their lack of optimism following the very First World War. For example, many of the characters seem "lost" with their futures and lifestyles through their binge drinking and lack of sustenance in conversations. Jake, the main character, exemplifies the traits of a member of the lost generation though his drinking problem and inability to have children, physically losing a generation.
