Two Historical Disease Outbreaks Black Plague- This was one of the world?s most deadly pandemics in history. It killed anywhere from 75 to 200 million people during the years of 1348-1350. It was nicknamed the Black Death and started in China but took full effect in Europe. Smallpox- This was an ?Old World? disease that almost all Europeans were immune to, but when they began to explore and conquer South America they brought it to the Natives and it is estimated that over 95% of the natives died because of this disease Two Modern Examples Swine Flu- H1N1 is a highly contagious and deadly disease that spreads easily which makes it susceptible to worldwide outbreaks. In 2009 a worldwide pandemic occurred and there was much hysteria over the disease

Varicocele What Is It? A varicocele is a widening of the veins along the cord that holds up a man's testicles (spermatic cord) Similar to varicose veins General Description (don't copy) Common cause of low sperm production and decreased sperm quality Can cause infertility Healthy veins allow blood to drain from testicle only, but varicoceles allow blood to flow back can affect sperm production (possibly because of temperature change of the testicle) Usually do not cause harm and are diagnosed and treated easily Causes Valves in the spermatic cord prevent normal blood flow Back-up of blood which causes swelling Varicoceles usually occur in males(duh) form ages 15-25 Form slowly A sudden development in an older man could indicate a kidney tumor Usually form on left side

The Han Dynasty and the Roman Empire used this series of trade routes to trade. -The Silk Road was safest during the time of Mongol Empire. This time period was known as the Pax Mongolica in the 13th century. This led to the spread of ideas and cultures throughout East and West Asia. The Indian Ocean Trade -South Asia traded with East Africa
