Inspired by a question put to him on the island of Papua New Guinea more than thirty years ago, Diamond embarks on a world-wide quest to understand the roots of global inequality. ? Why were Europeans the ones to conquer so much of our planet? ? Why didn't the Chinese, or the Inca, become masters of the globe instead? ? Why did cities first evolve in the Middle East? ? Zac Kuykendall ? PAGE ?3? Zac Kuykendall Ms. Harris Pre AP English 2 May 30, 2011 Jane Eyre Synthesis In a time where religion dominated the lives of people, Charlotte Bronte challenged the minds of hundreds with her portrayal of the church in her book Jane Eyre. Bronte chooses to exemplify characters from the bible in the characters in her book (Bolt). I believe that by casting characters in her book similar to those characters in the bible, Bronte is attempting to challenge traditional thinking of the time about the bible.
