Douglass explains how Lincoln said that the government cannot permanently stay in the same condition made by industry and farmers, its either a free state or a slave state. He says that we can?t turn it back to when the founding fathers established a government. War of 1812 DBQ The War of 1812 is one of the forgotten wars of the United States. The war lasted for over two years, and ended in stalemate. It did however, once and for all confirm American Independence. The offensive actions of the United States failed to capture Canada. On the other hand, the British army was successfully stopped when it attempted to capture Baltimore and New Orleans. There were a number of American naval victories in which American vessels proved themselves superior to similarly sized British vessels. Instructions: Read Documents 1-6 to answer questions #1-10 as well as the Essay Question. Essay Question: Explain the causes and consequences of the War of 1812, why is it often known as the Second War of Independence.

DBQ 19 As of the 1970?s, the United States had been faced with economic and social turmoil., The Vietnam war, lasting from 1965-1975, was a controversial issue among many Americans. Most argued that it was not a war the US needed to be involved and ultimately wasted money and resources. Former President Nixon faced confrontation over the Watergate scandal as the economy under President Carter?s administration continued to decline. These conflicts created a mistrust between the national government and the American people. In 1980, Ronald Reagan is elected as presidents in hopes to improve the nation?s economy. The Reagan administration was overall effective in addressing the domestic and foreign affairs presented to them.

DBQ 2 By the time of the 1700?s, immigrants and settlers were beginning to start societies in the New World. The English colonies were all being formed by different leaders for different purposes such as William Penn settling the Pennsylvania area with the Quakers or Lord Baltimore in Maryland. During the era of early colonial settlement, it was a time of colonist settling in areas because of diverse motives. Although the New England area and Chesapeake Bay region were settled mostly by white Englishmen, they had become two distinct societies by the 18th century. These areas both evolved separately because of their difference in demographics, economic indifferences, and religious devotion.

Harriet Tubman: The Greatest Achievement ?I grew up like a neglected weed.? was Harriet?s way of saying her life. Harriet Tubman was born as a slave in Dorchester City, Maryland, sometime in the early 1820. She lived until 90 years old. Harriet Tubman worked in the Underground Railroad in risks for ten years. She worked for the North in the Civil War, help nurses and care for soldiers without any pay or pensions. Then, Harriet taking care of poor people in her shelter for the last 48 years of her life. So, consider each undertaking, the risks she took, the time devoted and the people she helped. What was Harriet Tubman?s Greatest Accomplishment? The Underground Railroad is Harriet?s greatest accomplishment but her other accomplishments is also worth honorable mention.
