i think that definition explains it well..thank you apwork!:)
i believe the civil rights of gay marraige/relationships should account as same as any and all rights of citizen entitled to his or her rights in a society-- legally and socially legit..

wow. that's pretty harsh. and on a previous post you said that u dont hang out with gays because of ur ego. i don't even know where to start flaming u and i wont because forums are not for flaming...however, i must say, as a hindu you are very narrowly minded. i have MANY MANY hindu friends and they do not suffer from the tunnel vision that u seem to have. you have a pretty low self ego for not being so open to other humans.
so what is wrong with hanging out with gay people? i got gay friends and they surely do not check me out. they dont slap my butt. my girlfriend hangs out with lesbian friends and she does not get sexually assaulted by them.
the only constance is change. our nation has changed a lot through its years politically and socially. people are now finding out it's ok to come out of their little closet because others are doing it too.
i really wish people would stop forcing their religions upon others. an organized religion is good whether you're a christian or a hindu or buddhist i don't care. for all you christians on this forum i myself am christian. yes u can call me a sinner. but religion is something that should be kept within oneself. missionary work is fine, as long as it's not used as a weapon. keep youre religious beliefs to YOURSELF, and YOU practice it and YOU strive for YOUR religious perfections. because once you start using that bible as a weapon, you're basically persecuting others and forcing them to live in ways they do not believe.
btw, the establishment clause: succinctly put: the nation shoudl not favor one religion/there should not be a national religion. we are all humans, whether you're black, white, korean, russian, sri lankan, iraqi, gay, christian, atheist, satanic, kkk, nazi, we are all of one race and that is human. so let's share this world as humans and consider the freedom of others rather than oppress.
sry armando plz delete this post and give me a warning if this post was too off subject and too flamy...i havent been here for a while.
Actually... you forgot to mention the 13th and the 14th amendment... what does those two say?
13th: Abolishment of slavery
14th: Civil rights for ex-slaves, etc.
If you read these two, do any of these amendments guarantee rights for gays? No it does not nor does it mention any rights for gays.
Therefore, gay marriage is NOT a civil right and civil rights can only pertain to blacks according to the definition of civil rights. It is a lifestyle and the two are obviously different. Re-read the civil rights definition carefully and the two amendments.
I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.

ok so let's not give Mexicans any civil rights. Let's not give us Koreans civil rights. hell, as long as you're not black let's not give u any civil rights. cuz i'm sure not every amendment says "white" men on it. what are you trying to prove? not all black people today were ex-slaves. that was over a hundred years ago.
Yes that's true. But blacks back then and after slavery were being used in another form called "contracts," sharing or borrowing money/land from white men. Explain to me how civil rights are lifestyles. By definition, it only refers to the 13th and 14th amendment. Do you see anything about rights for gays in these amendments? Hmm... lemme see... hmm... I'm reading these amendments right now. Oh! Doesn't mention anything about gays except slavery forbidden. Let's look at the 14th.... hmm... don't see anything about homosexual rights except citizenship, citizen vote, certain person being in rebellion, debts inccured in aid of rebellion are void, and only enforcement.
I don't see anything about homosexual. And as for us Koreans and Mexicans, do you see any of us in U.S. fighting for civil rights? No.

the last sentence does not make much sense to me. because once koreans for example, do start fighting for civil rights, someone with your argument will try to suppress the movement. in which by then you might disagree with your argument because we're not gay. the Civil Rights Act of 1964 did not have to be included in the amendments. Why not have the Gay Civil Rights Act of 2006? lol. probably a bit too early for peopel's tastes. how can you deprive someone else that is also a human being. this is gonna grow into a type of war. not war where there are missiles from miles away that kill people who's faces they havent even seen, but a war where there are gonna be a big big struggle mentally, socially and politically. we have enough stressful issues to worry about. we've got enough viruses to fight, the hungry to help, have u seen what's going on in Liberia? Uganda? why can't we help other human beings other than deprive them because they are gay, whether or not they're born that way or chose it themselves.
let's take this into a differnet perspective. let's say the world was meant to be gay (i know it's hard to imagine but just work with me for a little bit). the world's status quo was homosexuality. you however, are a straight being. you luckily find another heterosexual that came out of the closet. you go through the stages of dating bal bla bla all that romantic stuff that people love to feel. you want to get married, because you know this is the one, because you've been through the fights and the good times. but hey, the world's default sexuality is gay. they wont' let you marry. how will you feel? aren't you two humans too? now they're basing their argument on a belief that you do not have faith in. only the ones blinded in their faith know that the belief is true. basically, the people are suffocating you with soemthing you totally disagree with. in other words, they're depriving you of your marriage because they believe in a man that "supposedly" existed but isn't living right now. even more crazy, they dislike you because of "some almighty being that they've never ever seen" says it's not right.
that's how the religious argument sounds like to gays. Not even true serious christians have seen God or Jesus. neither has anyone on this earth. you know what this sounds liek to me actually, liek teh salem witch trials. might be kinda harsh but it's analogical:
girls who accused the villagers with the witness of specters: Christians
villagers being accused by girls who say they've seen specters: gays.
I don't see the big deal with allowing gay couples to marry, it doesn't affect anyone. They are people, just like you and me. They shouldn't be deprived of their rights because of their sexual preference. We live in a country that stands and was formed on the foundation of democracy. This country boasts about how it offers freedom to everyone and treats everyone equally. Gays should be allowed to marry, live together, and do everything else any other straight couples are allowed to do.
i hear that!

Why would Koreans fight for civil rights? We have rights don't we? Do you see any Koreans going rampant or claiming we don't have any civil rights? Homosexuals are fighting for lifestyle even though they say they are fighting for civil rights. Again, civil rights and lifestyles are different.
I've never said nor did I ever mention that we should not deprive gays. It's ultimately their own choice.
And suppose the world was gay and there was no God. What world? The world would be non-existing and I wouldn't be there because according to science itself (particularly Evolution), any homosexual factors should be eliminated (I am NOT saying we should kill gays) because they cannot produce any form of life.

A little off topic but how can you confirm this. Again, give me a source (haha again another source?).
So, are you advocating that civil right is a lifestyle?

my bad on usin the word "anyone". it's too conclusive to use i suppose. yet, i dont know how to phrase my sentence then.
i do not think civil rights is a lifestyle. i am only advocating that homosexuals should receive the same liberties as we do. they should be able to marry. why not? and about the world not being able to be populated because of homosexuals, it was just a scenario. if u want me to explain it i will explain but it's got to do with virgin mary and divine birth and all this ...but it was just my simulation, so it's not worth arguing about.
that is one thing i hate about my religion. they seem so anti-gay. i asked one of my sunday school teachers that. "why is our church seem so anti gay?" he replied "we're not anti gay and noone should be anti gay. we jsut try to help tehm see what's right"......that doesnt make any sense....how can they "see" what's right if they dont believe in anythign that WE as christians see? you cant condemn someone to hell if they dont know what they've done wrong. that's why we don't send a kindergardener to jail for life when they bring a gun from home and shoot kids at his school *which has actually happened*.
