Gay Marriage?

coming from canada, i guess i've been more open to gay marriages and gay couples holding hands walking down the street in toronto or elsewhere.

there's the pride festival every year in toronto and the supports great.
i think the same thing should be done for the states...accept it as a part of their life.

before the modern ages in which we live in, the status of someone being gay or homosexual was hushed and deeply discouraged.

come on..we don't live in the middle ages anymore, where ladies must wear dresses and men have to be macho to gain reputation and respect from the society.

i think NOTHING is wrong with gay people. it's a fact of their life, so we should also accept them as a fact of life.

Lots of things get tied up with the topic of humanism. I guess it really depends on your point of view and your background, but I guess that involves humanism too. x.x;; I just think that the world is screwed up, but saying something about that would just take up an entirely new thread. xD

True, I just view gay marriage as an abnormal practice. Both in religion and in social life. It just does not fit in with the rest of society. If I was president I would do everything that is in my power to abolish gay marriages. It just plain out sickens me.

This was a few pages ago, but it had to be mentioned.

And I'm sure you don't eat bacon or lobster, let alone allowing any sort of cripple into your church. Please tell me you at least sacrifice animals -- you couldn't possibly be one of those unenlightened heathens. I can tell from this sentence alone that you follow the Bible in everything you do. Good show!

Sorry if my blatant sarcasm in any way violates the spirit of this debate. Restated: so much of what is in Leviticus (which I just read entirely for this argument) contradicts our current morality that it casts serious doubts on the validity of every other part of the book.

As for gay animals, I vaguely recall something about gay penguins raising a baby (penguin) in a zoo somewhere, but cannot cite a source. Ringing any bells with anyone else?

Lastly, much agreement to imkonadian88 and randominity.

APFaq, gay marriage has existed for centuries. we just didn;t know about them because even gay people thought that telling people would be embarassing.

and also, if it doesn't fit in with the rest of the society, is there something wrong with gay people or the society itself? a society that doesn't revolutionize should then belong to the ice ages.

oh and did i mention that ALL of us have choice of our own religion life AND social life, whether it be different or not with the "rest of the society", or the majority?

i just read civil disobedience by Thoreau and i was deeply touched by it. although it talks about slavery and government, i think this piece can very well entail to the issues of gay marriage as well.

I'm sorry if i've offended you (or anyone else), but that is my view

ah hah debating is actually exciting

I agree with APFAq (again) with this gay marriage issue.

Hmm. imkonadian... You seem to be implying that gay marriage is civil right. But are homosexuals wanting gay marriage fighting for civil rights or are they fighting for homosexual lifestyle?

I never forget a face, but in your case I'll be glad to make an exception.

I do believe that gay marriage is a civil right. I'm rooting for them to first establish their lifestyle as "fitting" in a society, and then it should be a civil right. a person and a person who loves each other to death should belong together, not restricted by what the society perceives to be wrong or immoral.

although i have one comment...marriage wouldn't really be a civil right, correct? so what would the man-woman marriage be considered as? a norm?

hm. nice :)

So you believe it is a civil right? So what is a civil right?

이개 "Civil Rights"야:

"right or rights belonging to a person by reason of citizenship including especially the fundamental freedoms and privileges guaranteed by the 13th and 14th amendments and subsequent acts of Congress including the right to legal and social and economic equality."

- Wordnet.princeton.edu or type it in google "what is civil right?"
