Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
religious tolerations pretty much only flourished in the Middle colonies. Puritans had little tolerance and would swiftly exile anyone with views radical enough. I can't remember the southern views, sorry.
the big draw has got to be land. the opportunity to easily purchase cheap land appealed to young single men drowned in a world of fuedalistic ideals. in the colonies it was relativley easy to move up in the economic ranks.
but if your refering to the urge to break away from the Church of England, i guess thats religious...but on the other hand not everyone came from England
(all this off the top of my head, someone evaluate my memory please, :D )
There is nothing wrong with gay marriage. Many people seem to forget a little thing called seperation of church and state. Not everyone believes homosexuality is a sin, and we shouldn't have to abide by laws based on a religion that we don't agree with. Marriage is about love, not about gender, plain and simple. It won't hurt anyone if gays can marry. If you don't like it, then don't marry someone from the same sex, but don't deny gay couples the right to marry just because you don't agree with it.
Day wrote: Without our religion based rules like marraige being a union between a man and a woman, America's level of chaos and confusion would sky rocket.
I have to disagree. Other countries have legalized gay marriage and the level of chaos and confusion did not sky rocket. Look at Spain, and Catholic nation, they recently legalized gay marriage, and nothing has spun out of control their.
I just don't see how legalizing gay marriages causes any type of chaos at all.
I'd actually say it solves lots of problems.
I agree with Armando
you are right Armanda...and if it ok for a straight couple to walk down the street holding hands than gay couples hould be able to...
Everything is worth a try!!

Armando, not Armanda
--edited: oops, I just realized Armando said the same thing!--
And I don't mind there being a distinction between civil unions and Marriage, I just think that the applicants of civil unions be allowed the same benefits as those who are married, so it isn't as unpleasant.
I agree with Chickenswillkill.
I wonder what would happen if religion didn't exist. What would humans do?

That would NEVER happen, because people will always need something to always be there that is the answer to all their questions and their answer to all their problems.
People created religion ;)
I don't believe in religion, I believe in beliefs and morals and spirits, but not in religion. Religion messed me up when I was younger, so I escaped from it and now live by my own beliefs, and I've never been happier. Religion is a crazy thing...
