Eytan Camras Mullen English 9 HP 17 September 2014 Of Mice and Men One of the themes illustrated throughout this book is that sometimes sacrifices have to be made. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the characters constantly make sacrifices. For example, George sacrificed the better life he could have had without Lennie, in order to be with Lennie and have Lennie?s companionship. The sacrifices made in this book give it its meaning of how sacrifices need to be made in order for life to go on. It changes how the story ends up and without them, this meaning of this book would be entirely different.

Camras1 Eytan Camras Mullen English 29 October 2014 Lord of The Flies Paper In Lord of The Flies by William Golding, the group of boys stranded on a deserted island, discover many objects and ideas that symbolize certain traits and qualities. ?Some denote civilized and respectable attributes, while others present the rigid and horrible side of humanity. Golding?s use for symbols such as Piggy?s glasses, the conch, and the beast, show how the boys have adapted to their new environment and ways. The book is about how these boys, when ripped away from their civilizations, can become ruthless and harmful beings in the absence of rules or a social structure. Throughout the book, each of these symbols bring out a different aspect of humanity.

I will research what the different cultural, religious, and moral beliefs of ethics and morality. I think that studying ethics will be an interesting and useful avenue of study for me. The results will be useful in helping me explore my philosophical interests. I have always been fascinated with the human mind and have frequently thought about making a career out of the exploration of the human mind and why humans tend to act a certain way based on the circumstances presented to them.

Alienated Characters Authors often include alienated characters to serve as a motif to the readers. Alienated characters are characters that don?t exactly fit in with the rest. Alienation can come from a variety of things, such as, society, gender, race, social status, or even religious beliefs. Instances of alienation can be crucial to a novel because they can make the reader unsure about what to think and add a mysterious aspect to novels. Alienated characters make novels more genuine by adding a subject of conflict. They are essential to literary works and reveal other characters beliefs and values.
