Luther's Background Studied law at the university of Er fut Luther became a monk because he was hit by lightening Very dedicated as a monk (he WAS, though, aware of criticism of church) Concerned with salvation salvation, he thought God would never be satisfied with his works. Influenced by st. Augustine everyone born into sin, but people saved by grace not works. Luther chosen to study at university of Wittenerg(1511) Luther became a professor on the books of the Bible. His idea of Justification by faith Salvation is sola fide (by faith alone) Salvation depends on sola gratia (grace alone)
