First of Enlightened Revolutions; Used French Ideologies Causes: Economic and Political War. Seven Year's War left Britain in debt which lead to taxing the colonies [think: Stamp Act, Tea Act] and try to enforce Mercantilism (All money for Mother Country; Economy controlled by Mother Country). Because Britain tries to institute laws, Colonists become angry. First Demand: Representation in Parliament, negated by Britain as colonists are not "full citizens". People born in colonies believe they have the same rights as British Citizens. 1783: Peace Treaty. American wins because of help from France and Distance between colonies and Britain.

Chapter 12 Mongols - A people of this name is mentioned as early as the records of the Tang Empire, living as nomads in northern Eurasia. After 1206 they established an enormous empire under Genghis Khan, linking western and eastern Eurasia. Genghis Khan - The title of Tem?jin when he ruled the Mongols (1206?1227). It means the ?oceanic? or ?universal? leader. Genghis Khan was the founder of the Mongol Empire. Nomadism - A way of life, forced by a scarcity of resources, in which groups of people continually migrate to ?nd pastures and water. Yuan Empire - Empire created in China and Siberia by Khubilai Khan.

Western Society, pp.273-276 (The Gregorian Revolution.) Summarize the ideas of Gregory VII. Pope Gregory VIII (1073-1085) , was an main influence in the papal reform movement of the eleventh century, often called the Gregorian reform movement. He was the first pope to emphasize the political authority of the papacy. His belief that kings had failed to promote reform in church prompted him to claim a role in the politics of Western Christendom. Gregory insisted on the freedom of the church, meaning the end of Lay investiture, the selection and appointment of church officials by secular authority. They believed that churchmen must be free form the control and interference of laypeople.
