In fact, fiction authors, such as Kate Chopin and Shirley Jackson, replicate society pressures in their short stories. This pressure for their characters, Tessie Hutchinson from ?The Lottery? and Desiree Aubigny from ?Desiree?s Baby,? leads to death. These two stories can be compared by focusing on the demands of society, the reaction of the main characters, and the outcome of the conflict.

Congressman are constantly advertising their names to make themselves known in their districts and states and to make voters aware of their existence. Along with putting their names out there, Congressman attach themselves to any good thing that comes back to help their home district. Finally, congressmen often choose sides on political issues such as abortion or gay rights to gain the support of voters with similar views.

The nature of the political culture of our country is that democracy, majority rule, and minority rights are good things. Unfortunately, when the economy is not thriving, or even if it is, the government still spends way more money than it makes, creating a huge deficit. Generally, voting behaviors of politicians and economic conditions are not always correlated, both at national and local levels. Politicians do not vote within their spending limit sometimes, because they know the federal government will pay for their deficit.
