...But why start with killing the young, healthy ones? We ought to start killing off the grandparents, the disabled, the retarded and slow in the head, the weak, the skinny, etc. Actually, let's also be rid of anyone who disagrees with this idea, too.
OH WAIT. t
We already triedhis one. I think it was called Hitler's Germany. It didn't end so well, if I remember correctly.
You may have a good idea in mind, but it's logical end is absolutely ludicrous.
"There's only so much space on earth.
People are murdering babies.
This cuts down on the number of people on earth.
This is good and should become mandatory in the future."
Except...Mass murders, genecide, and in, general the taking of any life does the exact same thing. Should we legalize those? Should those be mandatory in the future.
"We will now be holding our random monthly executions, due to
overpopulation of the planet."
Yeah, sounds like fun to me, too.
Also, this "We're running out of room on the earth is malarkay. Do some reading first. Don't just think, "People are starving all over the world, thus, we must be over populated."
There are also horridly obese and gluttonous people on this earth. Does that mean we're fine? It's not a problem of room, that's utter fabrication, (by TreeHuggers Inc. no doubt), it's a problem of allocation.
Don't tell me me we're overcrowded. Every human being on the planet could fit into the state of florida. Oh, and they wouldn't be piled on each other, either. They'd have a square foot of room. EACH.
Are those ideal living conditions? No.
But how much of the planet do you have left over?
"No room on planet earth." Is a bullcrap argument. Please, research it for yourself, please.

If it was indeed killling it would be considered murder so since our society's laws deam that in the 1st trimester its not murder then it"s not killing. YOu can't call them healthy since there is no guarantee of that and unless you are god you have no idea how "healthy any of the future babies will be".
its unwise to kill off the above stated because they are members of society, have invested in society, and society has made investments into them.
why would any country want to kill off its taxpayers? so it can slip farther into debt?
Even retards are productive in their own right. in extreme cases they can be considered productive even if only by the fact that they increase demand for medications or assisted living. So by killing them you put "normal" persons out of the job so you might as well kill them too.
and the goverment pays for public education so by killing any of the weak or the skinny, that have attended school, the goverment loses money in a long term investment on those people.
So when it comes down to a dicision on wether to kill an, as of yet, unproductive and unproven member of society or any person whom has been invested in through taxes and public works i choose the latter.
further its not just the land ratio to the area of all human feet when standing and how this only fills up Florida the point is that with the land we have there is only so much ariable land and water. Especially fresh water, which in centuries to come will become the incentive for wars.
when a entire countries population is thirsty i think they will try to improve their overall situation at the expense of their neighbors. Don't you.
yet there is a solution we don't oulaw abortion in order to prevent over population.
you can't argue purely land based i listed firstly water and food which is on the land because it takes up space so i had to include it.
[Note sarcasm]
Good thing our society "agrees" that it's not murder. I mean, gosh, I let the society dictate truth to me all the time. I wonder what Hitler told his army. "It's not murdering, it's just racial cleansing." Well...Their society agreed upon it. It must not have been murder. Whew. I was afraid humankind was capable of attrocities like that.
I certainly don't think I'm God, but you apparently think society is. You are mistaken.
Yes, you're right. I have no idea how healthy future babies will be. But I have a concise idea of how unhealthy the elderly are. Given the odds, we should logically kill the elderly.
As far as being "unwise" to kill off the people that have invested in our society, the key word is HAVE. Past tense. Aren't anymore. Just like they USED to be healthy, but aren't anymore. Just like they USED to be paying taxes, but aren't anymore. Quite the contrary. We're paying MORE taxes to support them.
Logically, it would be "wiser" to kill off the elderly, if we want to save some space here on planet earth. It's survival of the fittest, remember? Natural selection. Evolution...any of this ringing a bell?
As far as not killing retarded people, weak people, skinny people, becuase we've already invested too much: It's called sunk cost. You can either KEEP losing money, or you can cut your losses, and STOP losing money. The producivity of a retarded person will simply not outweigh their benefit. Hitler obviously thought so.
And as far as creating jobs, think about all the employees we will need to round up all these inferiors, think about the mortuaries that have to be built, the furnaces to be constructed, the undertakers to employ.
Job creation is the least of our worries. Leave the income to the healthy and the competent.
And for our water that is going to dry up...Funny. Our planet has been around, what, 4,500,000,000 years, and it STILL has the water to support, how many species? anywhere from 10 to 100 MILLION? Wow. That's remarkable. I guess the earth must have a nice built in recycling system. Oh yeah, it does.
Where exactly, do you think the water is going? Out into space?
Perhaps we are losing water, I don't know for sure, but at this rate, we should be out of water, (All 326,000,000,000,000,000,000 gallons of it), in another couple billion years).
But that won't really matter, will it? Because by then our sun will either burn out or expand into a red giant, enulfing us all in a fiery death of doom. BWAHAAHAH. (but seriously, it's true.)
SO, we're not running out of water, that is also clearly BS.
I would argue for running out of something else essential to life, though I doubt one can come up with one that isn't equally ludicrous.
And yes, I agree with your assessment of mankind. We will shaft our neighbors to help ourselves.
I didn't understand your last sentences, perhaps you could restate them.
The sad thing is, someone is probably going to read this and start defending to the rights of the elderly. So let me just clear this up. I don't think we should kill the elderly. I am creating satire so that all can see how truly idioc such arguments are, and where they logically lead.

abortion has never been considered racial cleansing 1st paragragh useless
2nd paragragh you support the killing of your own parents i don't know about you but i believe in a thing called love and i'm not going to talk about killing the people i love.
3rd para we're not losing money the economy is supported from all the special care/ fecilities they require
4th don't include salt water in your numbers take into acount polution and in the past 4.5 trillion years the earth has never expieranced the "human factor" doesn't care how many millions billions or trillions of species there are if the populations of these species aren't as large as ours at present.
you dropped my argument on arable land therefore you agree with my entire argument and yours is shot.
even though you tried to establish a satire your only proving how truly idiotic your arguments are and how your analysis has so many holes in it that it can't hold water.
Alright, this is a good debate guys, let's keep it this way.
As a teenage girl, I dispise aborption. It is corrupt in my book. My friend is for aborption and after continious attempts to get her to think about what I was saying it has been said. For the vegens; if you won't eat an egg b/c it will become a chick(baby chicken) then why can you destroy a fetus. Yes, the fetus is not a baby girl/boy until 8 weeks in (i think). but, it is still a living thing. it is as bad as taking the ivory tusks from an elephant. Taking a life from an unborn child due to a mistake is not the baby's fault. it deserves a chance in the world. the only way i believe in abortion is in the case of rape. Personally, I dislike abortion as much as the Jews hate Hitler.
Okay, sorry but I'm not in the mood to read eleven pages. If any of you disagree, I'm looking for a debate anyways.
Personally, I think abortion is acceptable only if the egg is still in its early stages a.k.a. a zygote or above. If it hasn't even implanted, in my opinion it is not necessarily a baby. I find it ridiculous when people against stem cell research declare it murder when in all truthfulness, the eggs in that stage in which stem cell research proposes to use them are lost every month of the year--if you get what I mean.
If the person got pregnant, it's their fault. No one forced you to jump into bed with that other. I often hear people say that you can't tell people not to have sex. Well, it's also wrong to tell a baby that they don't have a chance to live because their parents don't want them and that's why they're going to die. At least make abortion illegal unless in the early stages or in the case of an emergency. If they still choose to have at it, I guess there's nothing you can do.

Please note, I am simply asking questions to get you to think about your point of view more. I am not saying that I agree or that I disagree with your statements. These questions are simply meant to get your wheels turning more.
Effervescent, you have a very good suggestion there, finding a middle ground between both sides. However, I have a question.
Quote:At least make abortion illegal unless in the early stages or in the case of an emergency.
What if they are not aware of being pregnant until in the later stages after being raped? I know the first thought that will come to mind is something similar to, HOW ON EARTH WOULD YOU NOT KNOW THAT YOU ARE PREGNANT!?!? However, please trust me, some people do not know. I have a friend who did not know until after her 4th month of pregnancy.

Quote:I think that abortion is murder. A child shouldn't have to pay for your mistake. If you know that you don't want a baby, just don't have sex. It's that simple. Wait until marriage.
What about in the case of a 13 or 14 year old girl being raped and being impregnated? Also, what if it could kill the mother? What if the child is diagnosed with mental disabilities that will not allow them to function as a normal human-being and they have to face a life of being put down and made fun as well as possibly dieing at a very young age, such as 14?
Quote:That also prevents the spread of STDs.
No, it will not prevent the spread of STDs. Reduce it, yes, but prevent it, no.
Quote:And to the person who said that we should start killing the elderly, that was ridiculus!
APUSH1989, they were speaking in a hypothetical manner in an attempt to further their argument. They did not truly believe in "killing the elderly" but were rather attempting to use it sarcastically to, as I stated, further their argument.
In some cases I can understand abortion. I know with a rape or with complications it can be understandable. I just disagree with the use of abortion to escape the fact the a person was careless with a sexual encounter. Some people in our world today use abortion too carelessly. I do agree with the use of it in the case of complications or rape. That would be very traumatic.

Note, I am stating my opinion one way or another, I am simply attempting to get you to think more.
So are you saying that the government should have more control over the lives of an individual and have more of a say over who lives and who dies?
I again emphasize the fact that I am in no way stating my opinion one way or another with this post. I am simply attempting to get people to think more from various perspectives.
