Need Notes?
While we strive to provide the most comprehensive notes for as many high school textbooks as possible, there are certainly going to be some that we miss. Drop us a note and let us know which textbooks you need. Be sure to include which edition of the textbook you are using! If we see enough demand, we'll do whatever we can to get those notes up on the site for you!
thats ok...i could go on and on about some stuff too...
and now that i hear you say that i think that more people should be willing to adopt children and give them the quality of life they deserve. most of my friends take one side and dont want to talk about anything else but why they think their view is the right one, so hearing another point of view is actually refreshing.
ohh...i know your signature is in latin, but what's it mean?

Thanks...I enjoy it when I can talk with someone who doesn't feel like they have to ignore my reasons WHY just because they disagree withme...thanks...
My sig means 'between a rock and wolf', an older way of the saying 'between a rock and a hard place'.

abortion? why ? just give birth to the baby and use it for stem cells :D
do not judge
Well, that makes sense...
myopichappiness wrote:it's not a "baby" until AFTER the first trimester. and Abstinence doesn't work for everyone...while absitence would be a good idea, the majority of the population would laugh the idea off. The fact is, the rights of women and their freedom to choose is being infringed upon by the government if abortion rights were illegal. In addition, we all know that if women who want abortions are really desperate they'll just go to some other nation with sketchy medical services to get an abortion or just go to some "underground organization" to get some illegal and unsafe abortion. Why not add some high tax, promote birth control, and regulate abortion services?

Even if there is not a law for conception under usual circumstances, there should be one for unfavorable ones such as rape and incest. Also situations may change quickly. The baby may be affected as a result. The father may get scared and run away or the family could be thrust into poverty. In bad situations, it may be better to have an abortion than to try and raise the child.
I do think that abortion is a very heavy matter. The decision to do so should be made after a lot of thinking. I much prefer adoption as an option if you are unable to raise the child yourself.
About morals. I understand that many people view abortion as murder. However, I don't believe that it is right to try and force your own beliefs upon someone else in most situations, religious or not. When abortion is against a woman's beliefs, than she does not have to have one. That is her choice. But if that is not her belief, then why should she be forced to have it? In some cases this may be very damaging to the child because if the mother resents the child, psychological effects will most likely surface and sometimes may be harmful to others.
Ummm, which is more damaging to a child...?
A. Going through life knowing they were unwanted.
B. Having their brains sucked out before they can breathe.
...
In your above paragraph, all that sounds like to me is whine, whine, whine. What is the price of a human life? "Oh, this will thrust me into poverty" Wah. "Oh, this will scare away the father" Wah.
The sicker thing is that we have perfectly suitable alternatives, like you said, adoption, C-sections.
I know that when anyone makes issues as black and white as I make am doing, they are labeled as: judgemental, close minded, simple, stupid, chauvenistic, etc.
However, perhaps some of you can see past that to see a new perspective.
These people are simply refusing to take responsibility for their actions. I know that it is harder when you include rape, especially for people who believe that this life is all there is. I would answer that to my Christian friends that God knows what He's doing, He's got a plan, and His ways are not our ways, but to you all, I have only the answer. Do the right thing.
What is the price of a human life? What is the price of your life?
(ironically if you're a consistant athiest you can answer "nothing". (In which case I respond by shooting you in the head;-))
I honestly think that everyone knows the right answer, we're all given a conscience, some of us have simply refused to listen to them for so long that we have effectively silenced them. We rationalize and justify by calling it other than what it is. Who is given the right to take human life? (I would argue that you neither have that right, nor the right to take your own, perhaps I'll start my own thread;-), but to even athiests, agnostics, whatever, taking someone elses life should, (consistantly) be regarded as the ultimate offense.
I'm coming off of my soap box now =)

I guess it all comes down to where life starts. Does life start at conception or does it start at a certain time during pregnancy?
This question must be answered before the abortion question can be answered.
I believe that first and foremost it is a woman's right to choose what she will do with her body..and yes, during the first trimester it IS her body. I do not condone or support abortion. I support the optiont to have options.
haven't read any of the 10 pages of posts before me but with the population rising exponentially i feel that abortion will become more common even mandatory in the future
