Sexual Double Standard In today?s modern day, many suppose women and men have the same equal rights. Even though this is the case on many occasions, we still see in our surroundings the effects of a double standard. Yes, society has advanced plenty from the days when women were meant to stay at home to care for the children and the house, while the men were expected to work and support the family. However, society continues to differentiate expectations and regulations which separate the men from the women. Parents are influenced by society, therefore their children are raised with the ideas of how women and men should be and act.

2.11.11 The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Chapter 11- 43 Analysis Chapter 11 "I reckon I shook like a leaf, and I didn't know hardly what to do." (cite here) The author in this simile uses a leaf to describe Huck?s Fear when his whole little girl charade is a bust. Huck has proven in the novel, due to the fact of mostly growing up in the woods, that he is very ?street smart? which probably gives rise to the fact that he?s so nervous. Not to mention he?s helping a runaway slave; which currently gives him this extreme inner guilt at times. Chapter 13 so we struck for an island, and hid the raft, and sunk the skiff, and turned in and slept like dead people. (cite here)

2. Theatrically, why might Shakespeare have opened Hamlet with an apparition in the dead of the night? Shakespeare captures the audiences attention in the opening scene with the eerie atmosphere of ?bitter cold? and a sudden appearance of a ghost. While ?not a mouse [was] stirring?, Marcellus, Horatio, and Barnado deciding whether the ?dreaded sight? is or is not a figment of their imagination raises questions of the ghost?s significance and purpose in the play, whilst simultaneously possibly representing an omen or foreshadow of dark events to come. 4. Discuss Renaissance superstition as it is evidenced by Horatio and the guards.

?Ships at a distance have every man?s wish on board. For some they come in with the tide. For others they sail forever on the horizon, never out of sight, never landing.? Many times in a book a character can be related to many forms of other things like nature. You never really realize it until you are done with the book and are talking about it in class. In particular the Hurricane happening throughout chapter 18 can be related to Janie along with the Horizon mentioned many times throughout the book.
