Math modeling will be used to find a line of best fit, linear analysis, and making predictions. Each student will submit a short report, (approximately one typed page, double-spaced). Directions: You will be graphing a scatterplot, find the line of best fit, and use the line of best fit to predict future statistics. On the Classification of Plants Plants can be divided into four broad groups over the course of evolution: mosses, ferns, cone-bearing, and flowering. The first, and least evolutionarily advanced group of plants, are the mosses and their relatives- Bryophytes. These plants lack vascular tissue, so they cannot move nutrients and water very far from its source. As a result, they cannot grow very high, and they also lack true leaves, stems, and roots. These plants also require water in order for fertilization to occur, because the sperm must swim to the egg. Plants in this category include mosses, hornworts, and liverworts. In the collection, the Springy Turf-Moss is a Bryophyte.

Hindsight Bias The tendency to believe, after learning of an outcome, that one could have foreseen it The ?I-knew-what-would-happen-all-along? phenomenon Common sense is not always so obvious and correct, it describes what has happened easier than what will happen. Overconfidence Those who are confident in their assumptions are not always correct; Hindsight bias and overconfidence often lead us to overestimate our intuition. Scientific Attitude Skeptical, not cynical. Open, not gullible Curious skepticism Humility- be willing to prove yourself wrong Critical Thinking Thinking that does not blindly accept arguments/conclusions, but examines, evaluates, assesses, and asks questions Scientific Method Theory

Sylvia Ciszek AP language & Composition Mrs. Hannan 8/28/11 Should outside organizations be allowed to operate failing schools? We often think of the phrase ?no child left behind? when we think about our school system. The no child left behind act was established in 2002 and was simply created to add accountability, flexibility and choice to a students education. This way, no child is ever left behind because he cant fit a certain standard. So then we ask the question, why do we still have failing school and what do we do with them?
