Before we begin, allow me to explain my credentails and qualifications in order to establish myself as a reasonable advisor. I am a graduate of the class of 2009 out of Fox Chapel Area High School in Pittsburgh, PA. On my SAT's, I earned a 1500/1600 and a 2200/2400 while maintaining a 3.98 non-weighted GPA through my four years. I graduated at the top of my class and was recognized as a Top Scholar. Next year I will pursue an English major at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.

Sports have the unique ability of bringing both the best and worst out of people. Moreover, sports often expose the true colors of certain individuals. In addition, athletics can take one’s mind off of the classroom. Over the course of my life, sports have played a crucial role and have taught me many lessons that I still value to this day.
The following consists of special sports stories from my past coupled with the lessons or morals I’ve taken from them.
As a rising senior, I am faced with the daunting task of finding the right college. With thousands of options across the country, it can be quite challenging to find that one special school where you can find your niche. How do you determine whether you want to attend a large state university or a small liberal arts college? What types of schools can you get into? This is quite tedious and a challenging process. Nonetheless, it can be done!
Here are a couple tips as you begin your search:
If you are reading this and indeed have divorced parents, they are in the process or are even a parent thinking of divorce, just remember that you are not alone. I was surprised I month ago when I was hanging out with some new friends and the topic of divorce came up. Half of the kids had divorced parents. Usually its me and a few others, but there really is more divorces than what it seems. In my net of close friends, I am however the only one with divorced parents. As a kid it should be nothing to be ashamed of, but it is still hard to talk about.
So you've landed that interview at Publix. The manager saw your resume, it looked good enough, and now he wants to talk to you face to face, learn a little more about the "personal side" of you.
What first, right? I'm sure you've heard hundreds of tidbits on what to do. Keep eye contact, look at him directly, but not forcefully, yet not too passively. Shake his hand, web to web and firm. Not too hard though! Confusing, I know.
So today, I'll be starting with the most basic thing that many people seem to overlook. Your dress.
SATs
Who doesn't enjoy spending a Saturday morning in a classroom with strangers taking a 150+ question test that includes an essay? I don't.
But it's necessary, everyone needs to take the SAT, either that or the ACT. But we sure as anything don't want to take the thing more than once. I remember the first time I took it, I got out at 1:15 in the afternoon and silently vowed, "Never again."
I know everyone has heard of the well known Ivy League colleges; Harvard,Princeton,Dartmouth,Brown etc.
If you're looking to get scholarships. I have the solution. Well, not quite. But I'm sure I can help you out with some tips that I learned this summer.
1. Scholarships are hard to get (obviously). (So do things you know you can do.)
Oftentimes, very very hard. Kind of like flossing your molars.
There really is no such thing as an easy scholarship. And the ones where you just sign up and hope for the best really don't make the cut.
All right, let’s face it: you are only going to be in high school once. With that being said, what I am not about to tell you is that these will undoubtedly be the very best years your life will have to offer you. Adolescence is a really weird and awkward thing, quite frankly. We’re trying to fit into our own skin and find our place in the world, even if the world to us only really extends to the sitting in the right place in the cafeteria. However, that also doesn’t mean that these years have to be the worst years of your life, either.
I don’t know what kind of job I’m going to pursue yet. There are all sorts of things I want to do but quite unfortunately that doesn’t necessarily mean they are practical desires. My parents have been gnawing on their fingernails in worry about the vagueness of my future career. Their prescribed solution--shadowing professionals in different areas.
