US History

This is a survey course that provides students with an investigation of important political, economic, and social developments in American history from the pre-colonial time period to the present day. Students will be engaged in activities that call upon their skills as historians (i.e. recognizing cause and effect relationships, various forms of research, expository and persuasive writing, reading of primary and secondary sources, comparing and contrasting important ideas and events).

The Zimmerman Telegram, by Barbara Tuchman, is a historical novel detailing Germany?s plight to overwhelm America by sending secret messages to Mexico. Everyone always says ?remember the Lusitania? when talking about America?s entry into World War I, but Tuchman argues that it is the Zimmerman Telegram which paved America?s entrance into World War I.

Essay The Great Depression robbed thousands of their jobs and further more put America into danger. It also was blamed for the stock market crash of 1929 that had ruined people?s lives. The Depression had also wiped out millions of investors investments. And because of the Great Depression consumer spending had dropped severely. Because of the stock market crash investing had nearly stopped.

Name Teacher AP U.S. History 10 September, 2013 Chapter 4 American Life in the Seventeenth Century The Unhealthy Chesapeake Life of Americans living in the Wilderness Life was hard, short, and very unforgiving for the earliest of settlers in the Chesapeake. There were many diseases like malaria, dysentery, and typhoid that the settlers encountered. The diseases and harsh life shortened life expectancy of the settlers by as much as 10 years for newcomers from England. There was slow population growth during the 1600s in the Chesapeake. Most immigrants were young males from England. Many of them died after arrival from England. There were very few women, and most men could not find mates. There were very few families. The Colony endures its struggle.

Sholan Kunjappan Mr.DeFilippis APUSHII January 23, 2013 ?When the Negro was in Vogue? Harlem in the 1920?s represented a very large change that would help change almost everything. Black discrimination seemed to slow down as whites began to accept blacks from Harlem. Celebrities would travel to Harlem in the nights to sit in the pubs. Although this annoyed the common Harlemite, it gave exposure to many Negro ideas made them very public. America was greatly changed as white America began to become fascinated by Harlem and the population that resided in it.
