First of all I wanted to thank you generously for coming here today. I have come to inform you about, and personally apologize for, one of the most tragic past moments in our nations history. This moment has not only drastically impacted most of your lives and your families but has also brought this magnificent country to where it stands today. Without this major crisis, the world might not have changed and the difference between right and wrong might not have been clearly seen. The great issue at hand, ladies and gentlemen, is slavery and whether or not reparations should be made to the families of these individuals.

Grigg 1 Bryan Grigg Mrs. Bowie AP English Language 28 March 2011 Sub-Saharan Trade Networks Although slavery has been a part of human society since the foundation of civilizations, it was most widely practiced from the 1450?s to the late 1800?s, due mainly to the wide discovery of African peoples by slave traders. Depending on location and circumstances, slavery could either be a benefit or a detriment to a captive. From capture to the middle massage and actual slavery itself, the slaves experienced hardships unknown to the human race before.
