Liu1 Experiment 8: Calorimeter ? the science of measuring Heat Objective: The objective of this experiment is to determine the specific heat capacity of an unknown metal and the heat of solution for the salt. Method: A calorimeter is a device used for calculate the enthalpy change of reaction, the science of measuring the heat of chemical reactions or physical change as well as heat capacity. The heat capacity of an object is the amount of heat needed to raise the temperature by 1K (or 1?C). The heat capacity of one gram of a substance is called its specific heat capacity.

1 Experiment 2: Determination of Density of a liquid and a solid Objective: The objective of this experiment is to determine the density of the unknown liquid and an unknown solid by measuring the mass and volume of them. Also, we measuring those data by displace water and using Excel to calculate. Method: For the first part of this experiment, we measure the mass and volume of unknown liquid five times using a 25-ml graduated cylinder. Then calculate the density. In order to get the density of the liquid, we use Excel to graph the data we get. The volume of the liquid is on the x-axis, the mass of the liquid is on the y-axis, and the slope the trend line will be the density we want.

Grace Doran 10/28/15 Grade 9 Liver Catalase Lab Purpose: The experiment was conducted in order to test whether or not the liver catalase performed different when denatured. Also to test what happens when we change the pH of the reaction. Introduction/ Background Information: A liver is vital in getting rid of toxic substances in the body. It uses enzymes which are proteins that help to complete chemical reactions. The enzyme used in the liver is a catalase enzyme. This enzyme helps to break down hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into water and oxygen. However enzymes may under extreme heat or pH levels may become denatured and nonfunctional.

Chapter 3 ? Stoichiometry this term refers to mass relationships and changes during a chemical reaction. Mass is conserved, but atoms in product are arranged differently than they are reactants. I) Mole ? A) molecules composed of atoms in definite proportion by mass and in specific ratio: butyric acid has 54.5% C, 36.4% O and 9.1 % H it also has the atoms C/H/O in the ratio 2/4/1 B) Mole is used as a measure of the amount of a substance. 1 mole is the number of 126C atoms in 12.00 g Notice it relates number of atoms to mass of those atoms in grams. It is always 6.02 x 1023 So 6.02 x 1023 atoms of 12C weigh 12.00 g Instead of looking at masses of isotopes, can use average atomic mass of atoms: Find Se on periodic table
